Bell & Ross just unveiled its BR-X5 Meteorite, the latest iteration in their BR-X5 lineup.

Best known for their designs inspired by aeronautical instruments, Bell & Ross has never shied away from exploring fresh materials and finishes. With their aviation roots, the introduction of a meteorite dial was a natural progression.

The centrepiece of the watch is the dial crafted from Muonionalusta meteorite. This iron meteorite, discovered in 1906 in the Norrbotten region of northern Sweden, is estimated to be around 4.5 billion years old, almost as old as the solar system itself. This meteorite fell to Earth around 1 million years ago before remaining preserved for a millenia beneath Scandinavian permafrost.

Once cut and treated, it reveals the Widmanstätten pattern: a natural structure formed by an intricate network of fine, interlocking nickel-iron crystals. As such, every BR-X5 Meteorite dial is unique across its limited run of 250 pieces.

This limited edition piece is housed in a 41mm wide satin-finished steel case, with polished facets adding visual contrast. The open worked construction, a hallmark of the BR-X5 series, helps reduce visual and physical weight. Sapphire crystals on the front and display caseback, plus a screw down crown, all contribute to a respectable 100m of water resistance.

At the heart of the watch beats the COSC-certified  BR-CAL.323 movement with a whopping 70 hour power reserve.
