On Tuesday, 31 March, Esquire Malaysia marked its return with a launch party. Envisioned as an 'Ode to Gatsby', guests arrived at Edenmill by Metalbees, dressed to the theme of Formal Greyscale, setting the tone with sharp suits, tailored eveningwear, and monochrome palettes. The industrial venue filled quickly, with familiar faces and new friends gathering to celebrate this special occasion.
The night was guided by emcee Jeremy Teo, who kept the room engaged and the mood social. Esquire Malaysia’s Editor-in-Chief, Stuart Danker, opened the evening with a celebratory speech. Shortly after, Olivier Burlot, CEO of Heart Media, took to the stage, closing his remarks with a loud and spirited, “Malaysia Boleh!” The team then raised a toast to mark the official relaunch.
A diverse crowd came together to celebrate the magazine, ranging from musicians to sportsmen, businessmen, entrepreneurs, entertainers, models, writers, artists, lawyers and of course, the city's best-dressed men.
The Frankie Sixes treated us to classics and vintage tunes, backed by a live swing jazz band. The Vivas Magic dancers then followed with a gravity-defying cabaret performance, bringing some vintage Hollywood glamour to the party. Later in the evening, DJ Joey G took over the decks, keeping the crowd on its feet, dancing well into the late hours of the night.
Pernod Ricard Malaysia poured a steady flow of whisky, cognac, and bespoke cocktails, thanks to the Chivas Regal and Martell bottles in rotation. As guests mingled, light canapés were served throughout the night.
We were proud to have the support of Siam Seaplane, a premium seaplane service. Its CEO, Dennis Keller, presented a special video and addressed the crowd. Kia showcased its sleek car lineup, giving guests a closer look at the Sportage 1.6T, Carnival 7S, and Sportage 2.0G.
Cortina Watch introduced the Batak Challenge, a reaction-based game that drew guests into quick bursts of fun competition. At the grooming station, Truefitt & Hill offered traditional hot towel shaves and beard trims to freshen up our partygoers. Meanwhile, the Japanese skincare brand Takami presented its signature products, so guests could enjoy a skincare boost on the go.
It was a night of sparkling wit, sharp style and great company, and one we'll remember for years to come. Thanks to all our partners for your support, and to all our guests for joining us for this wonderful celebration.
