Audio devices these days are no longer simply tools for reproducing sound. They also have to look good. For buyers who are serious about good audio but want to avoid bulky speakers, there are increasingly sculptural options. These can help to shape or enhance a space with striking aesthetics. 

One such product is the Music Studio 5 (LS-51H), a Wi-Fi speaker offering from Samsung. Designed in collaboration with renowned French designer Erwan Bouroullec, the speaker’s aesthetics revolve around the dot and orb, visual representations of how sound expands. Its minimalist look and clean lines bagged this speaker the Gold Award at the iF Design Awards 2026.

Tuned by Samsung Audio Lab in California, the Music Studio 5 uses dual tweeters with a 4” woofer. Their AI Dynamic Bass Control ensures clear distortion-free low end. Sound staging comes by way of Dolby Atmos® and Eclipsa Audio.

In terms of connectivity, the Music Studio 5 supports Wi-Fi casting and streaming, Bluetooth 6.0, as well as Samsung’s proprietary SSC. There’s also an optical in should you require it, though the more common ⅛” audio in port is noticeably missing.

The Music Studio 5 is touted as the world’s first device to feature Spotify Tap over Wi-Fi, enabling users to launch Spotify playlists without the use of a phone. The Spacefit SoundPro  feature helps optimise your audio experience by analysing your room’s unique layout. 

The speaker can be controlled by both the Samsung Sound app and SmartThings app. Group Play and Stereo Play is also supported, allowing multiple units to play in sync, or as dedicated left right channels. Q-Symphony is also supported, allowing syncing with compatible Samsung TVs.

During a test with the speaker, we found that the audio tends to prioritise bass by default—this is great for a house party, but can affect the overall balance of music. Fortunately, it’s easy to adjust the settings in the Samsung Sound app to your exact preference.

For those who are already in the Samsung ecosystem, this speaker offers upgraded audio for your home that’s compatible with your existing devices. For everyone else, the striking design makes it worth a closer look.
