The Citizen Promaster line has been one of the Japanese watchmaker's staples since the original set was released in 1989, and its contemporary reissue range is just as brilliant. However, this bold new limited-edition entry might just be the most striking that Citizen has put out in years.

Stylistically, the Citizen Promaster Dive EO2023-00W is an absolute marvel: the rose gold-coloured case, silver bezel and grey strap that matches its colour all surround the show-stopping dial, which comes in the deepest turquoise hue with a twist.

The brand describes the vividly-coloured dial as having a 'structural ink finish' inspired by the colours of the dial, with its horizontal striping that gives it a colour-changing effect under certain lighting, causing the dial to shift to a purple hue. It also features luminous hands and minimalistic markers, with a small date window at the 4 o'clock position.

Otherwise, it's not enormously different from the other Promaster watches featuring Citizen's signature Eco-Drive technology, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The model runs on the brand's E168 Eco-Drive quartz movement, which can be powered by light from any source, meaning that there's no need to worry about batteries.

It also has 200 metres of water resistance, a unidirectional bezel and a 44m stainless steel case, meaning that it retains the bulky functionality and readability that divers love about the line.

With just a few thousand being made worldwide, and a retail price of $495 (£370), this one is certainly going to be popular with watch collectors thanks to its unique design and affordable price point. But if you're on the fence, make that decision soon, because once these are off the shelves, Citizen will not be making any more.
