Should I do it? Should I make a pun about how Ralph Lauren's Spring 2026 collaboration with Major League Baseball is a home run?
Considering Ralph Lauren has always existed in the language of sport, this collection was no curveball. Predictable, maybe. But that’s hardly a dig when you’re a brand that consistently meets the standards you’ve set.
Coming off a strong partnership with the 2026 Australian Open and continuing its role outfitting the USA team for the 2026 Winter Olympics, Ralph Lauren’s relationship with sport is a close one. From polo to motorsport, it has long been part of how the brand builds its world. And that direction is personal as much as it is strategic. Especially when it comes to Mr Ralph Lauren’s personal love for baseball, and for the New York Yankees in particular.
After decades of association, Ralph Lauren’s partnership with Major League Baseball took shape in 2018, following a milestone moment at Yankee Stadium. The designer, a lifelong New York Yankees supporter and Bronx native, was invited to throw out the first pitch to mark the brand’s 50th anniversary.
That relationship evolved into its first dedicated collaboration in 2021 with an exclusive Yankees capsule. This Spring, the collaboration returns with its most expansive offering yet, a capsule built around six of the sport’s most storied teams: the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays.

The collection is grounded in familiar team sport garments. For starters: satin varsity jackets, fleece sweatshirts, and caps that come in team colourways. It then leans into its Americana influences with a denim trucker, a cream pinstriped baseball jacket, and a denim shirt bearing the Yankees insignia. Though familiar, these pieces avoid the feel of team-shop memorabilia. They’re made to be worn beyond the arena, into everyday life.
Mr Lauren said it best: to him, sport and style have always extended beyond clothing or performance, sitting within a broader way of living shaped by freedom, energy, and authenticity.
Ralph Lauren has always sold the idea of sport as leisure, as the American Dream. The kind where showing up to a weekday 9 am tennis match in Polo Ralph Lauren is a marker of success. Being a brand that is heavily intertwined with the sporting world, Ralph Lauren has never really relied on the actual game itself. Instead, polo fields, tennis courts, and sailing decks are reimagined into an aspirational lifestyle and with it, a way of dressing.

The nonchalant styling of this latest collection reinforces this mythology. Western coded workwear like denim and cowboy hats are paired tastefully, but also effortlessly, with shirts and jackets bearing team logos. This is not just about fan culture, it’s about personal style for the discerning fans. The fans who care enough to follow the game, but not enough for it to consume them when their team loses.
What comes with it is an understanding that you can be a fan of the sport without letting it define you entirely.
As a fan of the collection and of another beloved American sport, basketball, this feels like a hint that an NBA partnership may not be too far off. Having taken baseball beyond the outfield, maybe the horse will eventually trot its way onto the hardwood courts. One can dream.
